Misting Systems for Sporting Events

Summer is coming faster than a runaway roller coaster and that means baseball, soccer, water parks, golfing, hiking, cycling and barbeques. All that time spent in the outdoors is something everyone looks forward to all winter long, but just as there are hazards to prolonged exposure to the cold, there are severe consequences to overheating under the summer sun. For event organizers there are options for cooling the crowds.

Before the sun begins shining on a regular basis and the thermometer still says ‘cold’, we are all planning our time outside. For some that means quiet hours gardening in the solitude of their own backyard. For others it may mean a camping trip out at the lake every weekend. Then again, for a whole lot of people as soon as the NHL playoffs are finished and the Stanley Cup has been awarded, it is time to head outside for summer sport.

The kids might be in little league or soccer camp, either of which will mean weekend games and tournaments. Spending a Saturday at the park is not such a bad thing, especially if the weather is warm and the entertainment is enjoyable. Of course every ballpark has some sort of concession stand, whether it is a hotdog cart and ice cream truck or a fully stocked eatery that rivals the 2010 Olympic Games food services. In either case there will be a lot of families attending the event and they will all need to eat, drink and keep cool.

Football Apparel For the Fan

Football apparel has become a booming side business for many of the most popular football teams. Fans are always anxious to buy something that shows their support of their favorite team, and a replica jersey or a t-shirt can be exactly the right thing to wear when you watch a match. Now that the FIFA World Cup is fast approaching, fans are more anxious than ever to get their hands on the latest designs that the international teams will be wearing this summer.

What’s the Buzz?
The internet has been home to wild rumors and leaks regarding this summer’s new football apparel. Fans want to be the first to know what the new kits will look like, and there are several who aren’t above snapping blurry photos if they should have the privilege of an early peek at one of the designs. Team owners would prefer to heighten the suspense and let the fans wait until the official design release, but the fans are generally not that patient. As soon as there is a hint of a new design element, the word spreads through the football community like wildfire.

The Many Design Possibilities
Of course, fans need to have something to do now that the qualifying is over and the tournament hasn’t quite begun. Football apparel is a unique sporting element, as the teams choose remarkably different looks for their home and away games. It is possible for a single team to wear three completely different uniforms in the same season. Usually the home uniform is the most traditional, with the alternate and away uniforms pushing the design envelope a little more drastically. Whether a fan is conservative or daring, there should be a team shirt that fits their style every season.

How Link Building is Like Combat Sports

In combat sports such as MMA there are three essential roles: cans (bookmarking and directory links), gatekeepers (comment links), and contenders. The gatekeepers are fed endless lines of cans so there record looks pretty. Then when the time comes the gatekeepers job to the contenders. Now the problem with this is that sometimes the cans are not actually cans(they are not called cans necessarily for their ability, they are called cans because they have a 0-0 or a losing record) and they can pull upsets over the gatekeepers. In that position the can doesn’t really gain a lot whereas the gatekeeper loses a lot.

The can gains more if he has a 0-0 record but it’s not always easy to find an endless supply of 0-0 fighters because the athletic commissions are stingy on who they will let fight. It’s easier in boxing though as it’s cheaper to train boxing. If a 9-16 can beats a 35-9 gatekeeper then that’s a pretty big loss for the gatekeeper and the federation.

The reason why you need gatekeepers is that it would be easy to look at a contenders record and see that he only fought cans (just like it would be easy to see if most of your link juice came from weak links) whereas if the contender fights gatekeepers when the announcers announce the record the audience will think they are good fighters if they don’t bother to check who the gatekeepers fought.

Championship: The Race for 2nd Place

While some people are suggesting that Championship leaders Cardiff are on something of a downward spiral after winning one of their last four, the fact that they still have two games in hand and a six point cushion from 3rd place suggests to me that they are pretty much certainties for promotion. The bigger question for me is just who is going to join them, with several teams all in the hunt for that elusive second automatic place.
Following on from the above, I’ll now take a look at the three sides that I think have the best chance of gaining automatic promotion by finishing in 2nd. Read the rest of this entry »

How to Win the Sit ‘n’ Go Poker Tournament War

What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear these words – tactics, strategy, operations, logistics, manpower, maneuvering?  War, right?  These terms, however, are also prominent in the worlds of business, politics, and even poker, especially tournament poker.

Indeed, some of history’s great warlords, generals and combatants have handed down military teachings that are of compelling value not only to those on the field of battle; but also to those in the corporate boardroom, along the campaign trail, or around a tournament poker table.

In fact, the art and science of war is every bit as applicable to the conduct of a military engagement, as it is to a nine-person sit n go poker tournament – which is, basically, a little war, fought to the death, until only one is left standing.
